Strategic UI/UX Design That Unified a Conglomerate's Digital World

Varam Group serves two completely different audiences from a single website — global B2B industrial partners and Indian consumers. First Launch redesigned the entire digital presence from the ground up: architecture first, visual identity second, active lead generation throughout.

01 — Brief

An Essence of Good Life, Expressed Digitally

A manufacturing conglomerate with deep industrial roots and a growing consumer range — one site, two worlds, one coherent brand.

The Varam Group is a multi-faceted conglomerate with a legacy of excellence across diverse industrial sectors. The group operates across two distinct business territories — industrial B2B solutions serving partners in printing, packaging, and construction, and consumer goods through their Varam Herbals range of natural health and hygiene products.

The group's philosophy is captured in a single phrase: the Essence of Good Life — a positioning that connects the precision and reliability of their industrial work with the care and wellbeing orientation of their consumer brands. The existing website had not kept pace with these demands: fragmented brand presentation, an interface that undermined trust with global partners, and no clear pathway for lead generation or product discovery.

The brief for First Launch was a comprehensive website revamp — modernise the digital presence, unify the brand across all business units, and turn a passive information site into an active platform for both B2B lead generation and consumer engagement.

02 — Challenge

One Website. Two Completely Different Audiences.

A conglomerate website serving both industrial B2B partners and end consumers faces a design problem most websites never encounter: it must communicate credibly to two different audiences in a single digital environment — without losing either.

Brand Fragmentation Across Verticals

The legacy platform presented each business unit in isolation. There was no cohesive visual language connecting the industrial precision of the B2B solutions division with the care-first identity of Varam Herbals — the brand felt inconsistent regardless of which section a visitor landed in.

Trust Deficit with Global B2B Partners

An outdated interface was actively undermining credibility with international manufacturing partners. For a procurement professional evaluating a supplier in printing, packaging, or construction, the quality of a website is a direct signal about the quality of the business behind it.

No Structured Lead Pathway

The site functioned as a passive information catalogue with no designed journey for either audience. A B2B partner had no clear route to initiate a commercial conversation; a consumer had no guided path through the Varam Herbals range. The site was generating no qualified engagement from either direction.

Dual Audience, Fundamentally Different Needs

A global manufacturing partner evaluating industrial solutions and a consumer discovering Varam Herbals sanitizer arrive at the same URL with entirely different levels of technical sophistication, different trust cues, and different reasons to act. Most websites are designed for one type of visitor. This one needed to serve both.

03 — Approach

Strategy First. Design Second.

First Launch approached the Varam Group revamp as a strategic UI/UX exercise before it was a design one — starting with information architecture and user journey design, then moving into visual identity and custom illustration.

01
Unified Navigation & Information Architecture
Designed end-to-end in Adobe XD: a five-section hierarchy — Home, About Us, Our Brands, B2B Solutions, Contact Us — gives every visitor an immediate, unambiguous path to their relevant content. Responsive behaviour across desktop and mobile was resolved at wireframe stage, before visual design began.
02
Segmented Brand Experience Within a Master Site
Dedicated visual identities for each sub-brand within the master site architecture — each with its own register while remaining recognisably Varam. Herbals took a natural touch aesthetic; B2B Solutions took a precision-oriented, technically communicative language suited to procurement decision-makers.
03
Custom Illustration Suite
A suite of custom icons and visual elements built in Adobe Illustrator to carry the Essence of Good Life philosophy across both sides of the site. Designed to bridge industrial precision and consumer warmth in a single visual language — something no stock library can resolve.
04
Lead Generation Architecture
A streamlined Get In Touch section and a dedicated B2B enquiry portal integrated directly into the site's structure — reducing friction between a prospective partner identifying Varam as a supplier and beginning a conversation. Lost qualified leads are a measurable commercial cost, not a UX footnote.

After
Brand coherence One master system, two visual identities
Navigation logic 5-section IA with dual-audience paths
B2B credibility Precision-oriented, industry-grade interface

  • For a conglomerate, UI/UX design is fundamentally an information architecture challenge before it is a visual one. First Launch begins with user journey mapping for each distinct audience type, then designs the navigation hierarchy and page structure before any visual work begins. For Varam Group, this meant designing separate but unified experiences for B2B industrial partners and consumer goods buyers within a single site — each with clear entry points and purpose-built content flows.
  • The answer is clear navigational hierarchy and segmented visual identities within a master brand system. For Varam Group, First Launch implemented a five-section information architecture with unambiguous entry points for each audience type, then designed distinct visual languages for the B2B Solutions and Varam Herbals sections — each with its own communication register, but both recognisably part of the Varam Group family.
  • For UI/UX projects, First Launch primarily uses Adobe XD for end-to-end wireframing, responsive behaviour prototyping, and visual design, and Adobe Illustrator for custom icon and illustration work. The Varam Group project used both tools extensively — Adobe XD for the full navigation system and page design, Adobe Illustrator for the custom illustration suite that carried the Essence of Good Life philosophy across the site.
  • Stock imagery cannot represent a specific brand's identity or values. For Varam Group, custom illustration was the right choice because the brand needed to simultaneously communicate industrial precision and consumer warmth — qualities that exist in tension and that no stock library resolves elegantly. Custom illustration built in Adobe Illustrator gave First Launch the ability to design visual elements that bridged the group's two business territories in a single consistent visual language.
  • Lead generation is treated as an architectural consideration from the outset, not a feature appended at the end. For Varam Group, this meant designing the B2B enquiry pathway and Get In Touch section as primary flows within the site's information architecture. The goal is to minimise the friction between a B2B partner identifying Varam as a supplier of interest and beginning a commercial conversation — because unresolved friction has a measurable commercial cost.
  • Yes. All First Launch website projects are designed with responsive behaviour resolved at the wireframe stage. For Varam Group, the five-section navigation hierarchy and all page templates were designed across desktop and mobile in Adobe XD before visual design work began — ensuring that B2B partners and consumers have a consistent, purpose-built experience regardless of the device they use.
