The group operates across two distinct business territories — industrial B2B solutions serving partners in the printing, packaging, construction industries, and consumer goods through their Varam Herbals range of natural health and hygiene products. The group’s philosophy is captured in a single phrase: the Essence of Good Life — a positioning that connects the precision and reliability of their industrial work with the care and wellbeing orientation of their consumer brands.

The Brief

A conglomerate website serving both industrial B2B partners and end consumers faces a design problem that most websites do not: it must communicate credibly to two completely different audiences in a single digital environment without losing either. A global manufacturing partner evaluating Varam’s industrial solutions and a consumer discovering Varam Herbals sanitizer on the same website have fundamentally different needs, different levels of technical sophistication, and different reasons to trust or distrust what they see.

The existing Varam Group website had not kept pace with these demands. The legacy platform suffered from brand fragmentation across its diverse verticals, an outdated interface that undermined trust with global B2B partners, and a lack of clear pathways for lead generation and product discovery. The brief for First Launch was a comprehensive website revamp: modernise the digital presence, unify the brand across all business units, and turn a passive information site into an active platform for both B2B lead generation and consumer engagement.

The Approach

First Launch approached the Varam Group revamp as a strategic UI/UX exercise before it was a design one — starting with information architecture and user journey design, then moving into visual design and illustration.

✓ Unified Navigation and Information Architecture

The first and most foundational challenge was structural. A site serving industrial clients and consumers simultaneously cannot use the same navigation logic as a single-purpose website. First Launch implemented a clear hierarchy across five primary sections — Home, About Us, Our Brands, B2B Solutions, and Contact Us — giving every type of visitor an immediate and unambiguous path into the content relevant to them. A B2B partner looking for technical specifications and a consumer looking for product information both find their entry point within the first interaction, without having to parse content aimed at the other audience.

This navigation structure was designed end-to-end in Adobe XD, ensuring the responsive behaviour across desktop and mobile was resolved at the wireframe stage before any visual design work began.

✓ Segmented Brand Experience Within a Master Site

To address the Varam Group’s diverse portfolio without fragmenting the brand, First Launch created dedicated visual identities for the group’s key sub-brands within the master site architecture — each with its own visual language while remaining recognisably part of the same family.

The Varam Herbals section was designed around a natural touch aesthetic — clean, ingredient-forward, and centred on clear value propositions. The consumer product credentials — 70% alcohol content and 99.99% bacterial protection in the sanitizer range — were designed for prominence rather than buried in specification text, giving a consumer or retail buyer immediate confidence in the product’s efficacy without requiring them to dig for it.

The B2B Solutions section took a different register entirely — precision-oriented, technically communicative, and designed to convey the industrial competence and reliability that global partners in printing, packaging, and construction need to see before beginning a commercial relationship. The visual language here was structured and information-dense by design, reflecting the decision-making context of a procurement professional rather than a consumer.

✓ Custom Illustration

First Launch developed a suite of custom illustrations in Adobe Illustrator for the revamp — icons and visual elements that reinforced the group’s Essence of Good Life philosophy across the site. Custom illustration was the right choice here for the same reason it was for First Launch’s own 2019 website: stock imagery cannot represent a specific brand’s identity or values. The illustrations created for Varam Group were designed to bridge the group’s industrial and consumer territories — communicating care, precision, and quality in a visual language consistent across both sides of the business.

✓ Lead Generation and Engagement Architecture

The revamp replaced what had been a passive information platform with active engagement tools. A streamlined Get In Touch section and a dedicated B2B enquiry portal were integrated directly into the site architecture — reducing the friction between a prospective partner identifying Varam as a supplier of interest and initiating a conversation. This is a critical improvement for a B2B business: the number of qualified leads that a website fails to capture because the contact pathway is unclear or inconvenient is a measurable commercial cost, not a minor UX issue.
