First Launch produced the brand promotion video and full social media campaign for Launch Pad — Ultimate Gurus' high-stakes startup pitch programme featuring Nikhil Kamath as lead investor.
What Launch Pad was, who it was for, and what First Launch was asked to build.
Launch Pad is an initiative by Ultimate Gurus — a platform built around a single mission: to empower millions of Indians to #UnlockGreatness. The first edition of Launch Pad was designed specifically for entrepreneurs: a platform that gave startup founders and idea holders the opportunity to pitch directly to a select panel of industry experts and seasoned investors.
The investor panel for the first edition included Nikhil Kamath — co-founder of Zerodha and angel investor in over 50 thriving startups — alongside Ultimate Gurus founders Suraj Nambiar and Mouni Roy, Jain Launchpad, and additional key investors. Selected participants would receive investor pitch access, 1-to-1 mentor discussions, a detailed startup evaluation, incubation support through Jain Launchpad, fundraising opportunity, and the chance to be featured on the Ultimate Gurus platform itself.
The brief for First Launch was precise: produce a brand promotion video for Launch Pad that could drive applications — communicating the programme's opportunity clearly, establishing the credibility of the investor panel, and creating the urgency that would push an entrepreneur sitting on the fence to submit before the December 9th deadline.
Marketing an entrepreneurship programme to first-generation founders requires navigating a precise creative tension.
A programme connecting first-time entrepreneurs with investors of Nikhil Kamath's profile lives or dies by how well it communicates its credibility and opportunity in the first few seconds of a potential applicant encountering it. The target audience for Launch Pad was aspirational but uncertain: first-generation entrepreneurs, idea-stage founders, and early-stage startup builders across India who had the ambition but not necessarily the confidence that their idea was worth pitching to serious investors.
The programme's open entry criteria — no educational qualification required, open to any industry, any stage — was designed to remove the barriers that typically exclude this audience from investor access. But communicating that openness while simultaneously communicating the calibre of the investor panel required a tonal balance that creative defaults cannot provide. Marketing a startup pitch programme requires a precise understanding of the psychology of the audience: early-stage entrepreneurs are simultaneously ambitious and self-doubting.
First Launch structured the campaign as a sequenced social media narrative — each phase doing one job, in exactly the right order, before the next introduced a higher-stakes message.
