About the Brand
EMMlyt is an enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform that takes an innovative approach to a traditionally complex category. The product gives businesses centralised access and control over all company-owned devices from a single unified platform — replacing the fragmented, multi-system approach that enterprise device management has historically required.
The product’s proposition is fundamentally about simplification: instead of managing a patchwork of tools and access points across every device a company owns, EMMlyt consolidates that management into one interface. For IT administrators and business decision-makers, the value is immediately logical — but explaining it clearly and engagingly to an audience that may not be deeply technical is a separate challenge entirely.
The Brief
This project followed directly from First Launch’s brand identity work for EMMlyt — completing the picture by giving the newly branded product a video that could explain what it does, how it works, and why it matters to the people making the purchase decision.
Enterprise software products face a consistent communication problem: the features that make a product genuinely useful are often difficult to convey through static materials alone. A data sheet tells a buyer what the product does. A well-made product explainer video shows them — and more importantly, it can make a complex technical proposition feel clear, relevant, and worth investigating further within the compressed window of attention that most decision-makers will give to any piece of marketing content.
The brief for First Launch was to produce an animated product explainer video for EMMlyt that was informative, clear, and engaging — translating the product’s core capabilities into a format that could be used across the website, sales outreach, digital advertising, and presentations.
The Approach
The production was created using Adobe Illustrator for asset design and Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and animation — a combination that allowed the visual identity developed in the brand identity phase to carry directly into the video without any visual discontinuity. The motion design language was built from the same design system as the logo and brand collateral, meaning the explainer video felt like a natural extension of the EMMlyt brand rather than a separately produced piece of content.
Product explainer videos for enterprise software sit in a specific creative category. They need to be technically credible — the audience is often IT professionals and business decision-makers who will detect vagueness immediately. But they also need to be watchable — dense feature rundowns narrated over interface screenshots lose attention quickly. The most effective enterprise product explainers work by establishing the problem first, making the viewer feel the friction of the current situation, and then demonstrating the product’s solution in a way that is visually clear and narratively satisfying.
The motion graphics approach was well-suited to EMMlyt’s product for a specific reason: device management is inherently a visual concept — multiple devices, a single control point, data flowing between them — that animation can represent cleanly and intuitively in a way that live footage of a platform interface cannot. Motion graphics allowed the abstract logic of the product to be made visible.
What the Production Covered
- Animated product explainer video produced in full — concept through to final delivery
- Motion graphics and animation produced in Adobe After Effects
- Illustration and asset design in Adobe Illustrator, consistent with the EMMlyt brand identity system
- Script and narrative structure built around EMMlyt’s core proposition: unified control of all company-owned devices from a single platform
- Video hosted on Vimeo for embedding across web, sales, and digital channels
- Production consistent with the visual identity delivered in the preceding brand identity project
Applied Brand Identity for the Product Explainer
This case study sits alongside First Launch’s brand identity work for EMMlyt as the second of two consecutive deliverables. The sequencing was deliberate and matters strategically.
A product explainer video produced before a brand identity is established risks looking inconsistent with the brand it is meant to represent — or requires a full rebuild when the identity is finalised. By producing the brand identity first and the explainer video immediately after, First Launch ensured that every visual element in the video — colour, typography, graphic style, motion language — was directly derived from and consistent with EMMlyt’s established brand system. The result is a video that looks like it belongs to the brand because it was built from the same foundation.
What This Work Demonstrates
Product explainer videos for enterprise technology require a specific combination of skills: the ability to understand a technical product deeply enough to represent it accurately, the creative capability to make that representation visually engaging, and the motion design execution to deliver a finished video that holds up in professional contexts.
First Launch’s work for EMMlyt demonstrates all three. The production was built from the brand’s own visual system, animated with the kind of motion graphics that communicate product logic clearly, and delivered in a format immediately deployable across every channel the brand needed it for.
For a B2B technology product at an early stage, a well-made product explainer is one of the highest-leverage pieces of content in the marketing toolkit. It works on the website, in sales emails, at investor meetings, and in digital advertising simultaneously — doing the job of a live product demonstration for every prospect who will never attend one.
