01 — About

Cell therapy for the world's largest cause of incurable blindness

The context behind a high-stakes international conference debut.

Eyestem is a Bangalore-based cell therapy company developing Eyecyte-RPE — a scalable cell replacement therapy for Dry AMD, the largest cause of incurable blindness in people above 60. Backed by a world-class team of clinical trial, cell therapy, and ophthalmology experts, Eyestem's long-term mission is to democratise access to next-generation cell therapies for the majority of the global population.

To showcase at an international healthcare conference in Singapore, Eyestem needed a suite of print collaterals capable of representing the brand to a global audience of healthcare professionals, researchers, investors, and clinical leaders — many encountering Eyestem for the first time in a competitive conference environment. The materials had to simultaneously project scientific credibility with the rigour a specialist audience demands, and create a visual impression memorable enough to follow a delegate home in their briefcase.

02 — Approach

Three principles that shaped every format

How First Launch approached a brief demanding scientific rigour and visual distinction in equal measure.

01
The Cell as Visual Anchor
  • Built the entire design concept around the fundamental unit of Eyestem's science — the cell itself
  • Avoided generic biotech aesthetics: no DNA helices, no blue gradients, no abstract molecular imagery
  • Used the cell as a concrete, brand-specific visual motif woven consistently across all four formats
  • Grounded the identity in Eyestem's own science rather than industry visual conventions
02
Information and Visual Impact
  • Held the tension between content density and visual engagement across every piece
  • Neither too text-heavy to engage, nor too design-led to be trusted as credible
  • Layouts structured to guide specialist readers through key information without overwhelming them
  • Designed for an audience that attends dozens of conferences and recognises every standard trope
03
A Coherent Four-Format System
  • All four formats designed as a unified visual suite under a single design concept
  • Complemented and extended Eyestem's existing brand identity without overriding it
  • Consistent across viewing distances — standee read from metres away, brochure held in hand
  • Built to create a lasting impression in the moment of encounter and again when picked up later
03 — Deliverables

Four formats. One unified concept.

Every piece designed to work in the moment of first encounter — and again when taken home.

01
Standees
Large-format vertical displays for the conference booth — designed to draw attention at distance in a crowded exhibition hall and anchor Eyestem's physical presence on the floor.
02
Posters
Informational display materials for the showcase space — balancing technical content with visual clarity for a specialist audience encountering the brand for the first time.
03
Brochure
Detailed take-home collateral for conference delegates — structured to communicate key clinical and company information clearly at arm's length and to reward closer reading later.
04
Presentation
Structured visual deck for Eyestem's conference session — consistent with the suite's visual language and calibrated for a global professional audience in a formal presentation setting.

  • First Launch designed a complete four-format conference suite: large-format standees for the booth, informational posters for the showcase space, a detailed take-home brochure for delegates, and a structured presentation deck for Eyestem's conference session. All four were designed as a unified visual system built around the cell as the core visual motif.
  • Cell replacement therapy begins and ends with the biology of the cell — it is the most honest and resonant visual anchor for Eyestem's science. Rather than defaulting to generic biotech aesthetics like DNA helices or abstract molecular imagery, First Launch used the cell as a concrete, brand-specific visual motif that communicates exactly what Eyestem does, woven consistently across all four format types.
  • Scientific conference collateral has a specific failure mode: it either becomes too dense with technical content to be visually engaging, or too design-led to be trusted as credible by a specialist audience. First Launch held this tension deliberately — keeping each piece both informative and visually interesting, with layouts structured to guide specialist readers through key information without overwhelming them.
  • Conference collateral operates under specific conditions: the audience is highly educated, appropriately sceptical, and has seen every standard visual trope. Materials need to work at different viewing distances (a standee from metres away, a brochure in hand), in a noisy competitive environment, and again when reviewed privately afterwards. The design has to earn attention immediately and reward closer reading over time.
  • Yes. First Launch designs print and digital collateral for healthcare, biotech, and technology brands across India and internationally. We have direct experience with scientific communication briefs requiring both technical accuracy and visual impact — including conference suites, brochures, presentations, and brand identity for companies operating at a specialist professional level.
